You’ve done everything right. So why is cash still this tight?
The real reasons are rarely the obvious ones. At Udana, we look deeper: through the numbers and beyond them, to the people carrying it all.
We build financially strong companies and put owners back in control, free to live and lead on their own terms.

You’re carrying more than anyone around you knows.
From the outside, the business looks strong: the name, the team, the turnover. Only you know how closely you watch the cash, and how much depends on nothing going wrong.
Every wage rests on you. So does the fear of it failing on your watch, and the guilt of the hours it takes from the people you love. There’s a doubt you’d never say out loud. And an exhaustion that has become so normal you’ve stopped calling it that: working harder every year, waiting for the point where it finally gets easier.
You tell yourself it’s the costs. Everyone’s costs are up. But you know that isn’t the whole story.
It hasn’t changed because the symptoms keep getting managed, while the root causes stay exactly where they are.
And the root causes are rarely where anyone looks.
The real reasons live in three places.
Most people never look past the first.
The Numbers
Your figures tell you what’s already happened. They don’t tell you what’s quietly eroding the cash: the products and customers that cost more than they return, the margin going somewhere nobody has traced. It’s usually there in the numbers – and it’s usually never been translated into a decision
The Strategy
Then the harder question: why do the numbers look like this at all? A price that doesn’t match the value being delivered. A range that grew rather than got chosen. A business model that made sense once, and is now quietly working against you.
The Leadership
Knowing what to do, and doing it, are two different things.
There has never been more information available to a business owner. But information alone has never been enough to get a decision made.
In every business we’ve worked with, the analysis was the easy part. The hard part was what sat underneath it: years of operating a certain way, the cost of changing course, the weight carried by the person whose name is on it all. Left unexamined, that’s what keeps a business circling the same problems, however good the advice.
So we work at both levels. The numbers and the strategy, with the rigour you’d expect. And the harder layer beneath them – where the decisions actually get made, or don’t.
Anyone can hand you the analysis. Far fewer will stay for the part that changes anything.
“She’s supported us through key turning points – from surviving the challenges of COVID to securing funding, optimising our cash, and exploring new revenue streams – always bringing calm, perspective, and grounded decision-making.
What sets Sarbjit apart is not just her business and financial acumen, but the depth of relationship she builds. I’ve not only leaned on her for strategy but trusted her as a sounding board during some of the most pivotal moments in my leadership journey.
In a multi-generational family business like ours, her insight into emotional dynamics has been essential. If you’re looking for someone who combines strategic insight with emotional depth – and who genuinely cares about both the people and the business – I couldn’t recommend Sarbjit more highly.”

A Word From Our Founder
Sarbjit Hear - FCCA
I qualified as an accountant at British Airways more than twenty-five years ago, spent much of my career at Mars, and alongside that have worked inside owner-led businesses — where the pressure is real and every decision matters.
Early in that career, my marriage came apart in a single night. I left with my nine-month-old daughter, no job, no home, and rebuilt from nothing.
It was the first time I’d stopped long enough to ask what my true purpose was. I’d spent years achieving without ever looking up, my head in a spreadsheet, and I knew that wasn’t what I wanted my life to add up to.
Connecting the dots of my own life, I discovered my purpose was to empower women. As an accountant, I knew that helping them build businesses that are financially sound gives them choice – over their time, their health, the people they love, and the life they actually want.
That’s still what drives me. And today, the work is for any owner carrying a business, and the people leading it with them.
Along the way, I’ve learned that money is only half the story. Real freedom is financial freedom and freedom of mind. And no success is worth what it costs if you lose yourself, or the people who matter, getting there.
Udana means “to fly.” That’s what I want for every business we work with – to reach what it’s capable of, and to give the people carrying it the freedom to live and lead on their own terms.
Our Freedom Formula
How we start
Every business is different, so the work is shaped around what you actually need.
But it usually begins the same way.
A Clarity Conversation
Complimentary, structured and completely confidential. An honest conversation about what’s really going on in your business. No pitch, no obligation — you’ll leave clearer than you arrived.
The Cash Diagnostic
Two to three weeks, fixed fee. A proper look beneath the surface: margins, product and customer profitability, cost structure, cash runway, and the strategy producing them. You’ll know the real reasons cash is tighter than it should be, and the decisions that change it. Credited in full if we go on to work together.
Then, if it’s right for both of us
We put the decisions into practice. That might be a focused piece of work over a few months, or an ongoing partnership – like having your own CFO, without the full-time hire. Turnaround and restructuring, pricing and product mix, funding preparation and presentations, monthly reviews that turn numbers into decisions. Alongside the leadership work: one-to-one with you and with your team, where the decisions need to be made together.
